I Still Like Angelina Jolie: Refer Back to GIA If In Doubt

So here’s a link (Angelina Jolie Vanity Fair article) to the first interview Angelina Jolie’s given since her split from Brad Pitt.

Of course she doesn’t give away too much. We knew she wouldn’t. Angelina definitely doesn’t seem like a person who just up and spills the beans.

Anyways, after the final line of the article I was left with the feeling of still liking Angelina, even though we’ve, or really I’ve, had my ups-and-downs in relation to how much I like or love her.

angelina jolie gia ad

(Angelina Jolie in Gia: check this one out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed)

I fell in love with Angelina Jolie in grade 9 (. I remember renting the HBO movie about the supermodel, Gia Carangi, who was HIV positive. Gia was a wild woman, bi-sexual, an intravenous drug user, and played by the gorgeous Angelina Jolie. Do I think Jolie’s normal? If normal means a version of a person I come across many times over, then no. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone quite as beautiful as Jolie in real life. She is a freak of nature and a very good freak at that.

Gia Carangi

(The real life Gia Carangi: captivating)

Plus, I got to see Angelina’s gorgeous body naked, with her boobs smashing up against a fence on a photo shoot set in the film. My Mom, I think because she was a much older married-man’s mistress for all of my post-pubescent years, tried to be overly pious in her views as a way to counterbalance her own less than savoury lifestyle and source of income. Anyways, due to my Mom’s own issues, I wasn’t allowed to really be sexual, look sexy, talk about sex, think of having or enjoying sex, etc., so it was a big guilty pleasure for me to get to see this wild behaviour on screen since my own grade 9 life was boring. Also, I was a bit overweight, not confident in my looks or self, and an outcast in some of my classes who guys definitely avoided and definitely weren’t into, so the life of Gia as played to perfection by Jolie was an ultimate fantasy for me. I wished I could be like Gia/Jolie (minus all of the bad stuff that happened to
Gia/Jolie)!

What affected me the most after seeing my first Angelina Jolie film was that even though I thought at the time she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, I wanted to hang out with her. I actually felt better about myself while watching her. I felt like if we were hanging she’d be nice to me, get me, and see the beauty in me. Yes, those are big mental leaps to make just from watching her in Gia, but that was what her performance invoked in me. Usually, when I watched people like Gwyneth Paltrow, I didn’t feel good about myself after. I felt like I wasn’t skinny enough, cool enough, and I didn’t think Gwynnie would even notice me if we met.

Angelina just seemed to have a big heart and a love for people. I have no idea why other than maybe I felt that because that is who she is to most people. Unless you cross her. I’m sure she’s done cruel things to Brad Pitt. I’m sure he’s done cruel things to her.

But at the end of the day, as this article reminded me, even though they look so perfect, there is still something about them people love and I think it is a vulnerability.

At the end of the Vanity Fair article, Jolie says, “Let’s embrace not being normal”. This is all I can do, as I’m too damaged and weird to ever be normal again. Anyone who loves to not be normal is someone I want to hang out with.

Angelina maybe you stole someone’s husband, I don’t know and I actually don’t care if you did, I still love you and I’m a fan in 2017 just as I was watching Jolie in Gia in 1999.

SOUTHERN CHARM: Brought Tears To My Eyes For The Firt Time EVA!

I thought it was hilarious when Craig said to his cat, Gizmo, “That’s your version of popping bottles, right?”, as he feeds him some treats.

Craig is so good looking but also weirdly geeky. I’m a huge geek, so I like him so much because he seems quite the opposite of cool and smooth. Sweet guy!

Craig is really happy this episode because he finally graduates law school due to finishing his last writing requirement. When he is at dinner with Naomie and he tells her of this positive outcome, she says, “I feel like it’s a bigger weight off of my chest, than it is yours.” You could tell that this hurt Craig and it seemed like he was feeling like he can do nothing right in Naomie’s eyes.

Naomie then went on to say to Craig, “If I hadn’t seen a huge improvement, we probably wouldn’t still be dating”. Ouch! Craig looks disappointed during the dinner and the tension is so extreme. She totally shits on him, but I can see where she is coming from in doing that. Craig did seem like he was being lazy.

Then there’s Thomas and Landon’s date. Prior to the date when describing the possibility of a serious relationship with Thomas if she pursues it that, “I would probably have a ring pretty quickly and all the horses I ever wanted.” A girl can never have too many horses, can they? Landon has likeable things about her, but I do feel like she prioritizes money over someone who challenges her in pursuing this relationship with Thomas. I actually think Landon may be more intelligent than Thomas. I know that’s mean, but it’s kind of what I believe.

Child custody you have to prove that you can do it. As in you mean have a nanny there 24/7 even while filming scenes for the show. Oh yeah, it’s so hard on Thomas.

Landon tells Thomas on their date about how Whitney’s mom Patricia invited Landon over to suggest that “I should consider you as a suitor”.

Thomas Landon Southern Charm

(Landon and Thomas)

We would be perfect together if he was 20 years younger and didn’t have a baby mama

“Go fuck thyself!” is Thomas’ perspective on people who want to judge him.

“You two get it done…This little girl is your soulmate.” This is what is said when their dinner is interrupted by some random crazy drunk lady at the restaurant their date is at. Ok, well if some out-of-it woman tells you you’re soulmates, why question it?

“It’s Southern is what it is…” Shep about Cameran being polite to Kathryn.

You could tell Cameran kind of realized she totally did isolate Kathryn and treated her poorly, much worse than Thomas even though he’s 30 years older and should know SOOOO much better than Kathryn…double standards against women, because she teared up while telling Kathryn that her and Whitney are there to support her.

I hope they can have some fun scenes as the season goes on, rather than just making Kathryn that sober downer loser all the time. That kind of depiction is part of what makes it so hard to be sober, I think, but yet maybe it’s just a realistic depiction of how sober people are not able to easily be the life of parties. I haven’t drank alcohol for over 8 years, so I’m sensitive to this topic and interested in it.

Austen describes “Chelsea as very guarded”. “The girl’s been engaged twice. Every relationship she’s ever been in she’s getting screwed over by guys.” Austen about his sometime paramour, Chelsea. Is it over?

Shep Cameran Austen southern charm

(Shep, Cameran, who is currently pregnant IRL, and Austen)

Shep (Chelsea’s past hook-up. Seems like he still has a crush) shows up where Chelsea works to get her to cut his hair.

“Chelsea’s a grown girl.” Austen about Chelsea

“The kid playing in the sandbox that doesn’t want to play with a toy.”

Craig’s theory while on the green with Austen about Shep, “He’s actually deeply insecure. He’s jealous we’re able to have confidence to go out and take a chance on someone.”

Yeah, I like Shep, but I do think he is deeply insecure. He hasn’t proven himself to himself or anyone else, and there is no way around inaction. But you can use each day to do actions you haven’t done before, which leads to change. So Shep is very far from a lost cause if there even is such a thing.

Deidre Thomas’s nanny for his kids Saint and Kenzie is who I want to see interviewed! What is her life really like. If Thomas can’t even fake taking care of his own two kids for the cameras, then he probably needs her and another nanny to make sure his kids are covered with extra support 24/7.

I bet she gets paid alot (she better) and she deserves every penny since she’s the one raising his kids right now.

“If they pull it out. I ain’t coming.

Whitney

“My eggs are drying up..” is the wonderful line Landon uses as a starting off point for breaking up with her much younger, not serious boyfriend.

I just want someone who will walk the dog with me.” “and buy me as many horses as I want” (that’s the part Landon said in her head).

Kathryn “From that to where I am now is just the polar opposite.

Thomas’s best friend JD’s wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth brings Thomas’ letter to Kathryn.

Now I Can See Why Austen Kroll From Southern Charm Seems Older Than 29

During the most recent episode of Southern Charm (airing on May 22nd), Austen revealed at the parquet courts place that his older sister, Kyle, died when Austen was 7 and Kyle was 10. Chelsea was asking something I would have wanted to know also, which is why Austen has a younger sister who is 9 years younger than him.

He explains that his parents had another child after his older sister tragically fell off the side of a cliff while on a family vacation in the U.S. Chelsea’s eyes welled-up immediately, it made me sad too, and it helped me to understand that I find Austen to be a hot 23 year-old, which is so rare because I’m 33 and usually find men who are older than myself to be hottest, because he’s probably been through more than most people in his particular genre of privileged whitehood in the first 29 years of life.

Pam Anderson Finally Looks How I’ve Always Wanted Her To

Once upon a time I used to hate Pamela Anderson as a little girl. I didn’t like when it became public that Tommy Lee assaulted her (as a kid this was reported on whatever tabloid entertainment show I was watching that he caused her to have a miscarriage) I thought she was a fool for staying with such an idiot.

Anyways, then I started to see Pamela Anderson talk shows and I realized how funny and self-deprecating she is. She won a fan with me! I also loved her as C.J on Baywatch even though when I watched that show I disliked who I thought the real-life Pamela Anderson was.

Once I learned more about her personality she sucked me in and charmed me into being a fan. My sister and I used to always watch her campy show V.I.P. back in the day too.

Now Pam has gone the “classy lady” route, at least temporarily, as it seems she always like to get back to her roots eventually, in Cannes this year (if you want more pics of Pam at People.com click here).

She looks gorgeous! Any old pre-surgery photos of Pamela Anderson always indicated to me that she is just as beautiful as any other Hollywood or more respected actress.

Glad to see Canadian Pammy still kicking around and looking good!

Am I Too Uptight Because I Think It’s Weird When A 5 Year-old Wears Lots Of Make-up?

This is Jessica Simpson posing with her daughter (the child on the left dressed as a mermaid) Maxwell, who just turned 5, as well as her husband Eric and son Ace.

It creeps me out that her daughter has so much make-up on! Yes, my mind immediately goes to child predators and the way in which Maxwell might already believe that getting attention for how one looks is the most gratifying or satisfying kind of attention there is.I don’t think it is, but maybe that’s only because I haven’t received a lot of attention for my looks, so I’ve had to seek  out self acceptance elsewhere. I think it can be dangerous when a person primarily defines themselves based on how hot they are, and yes, I’m judging because the picture of 5 year-old Maxwell makes me think Jessica Simpon is messing with her child’s head. Oh, and it is very, very important to note, I am not a parent. Therefore, that makes me extra bitchy and annoying because I’m commenting on Jessica Simpson’s parenting (I do love Jessica Simpson, I think I still have some of the Newlyweds on DVD…she’s a goofy person) even though I have no clue how hard it is to be a parent.

Oh My God! This is the Best Outfit Ever: JLo Steals Met Gala

J.Lo is now officially my human Barbie doll.

This is J.Lo and A.Rod arriving at the 2017 Met Gala in New York City on May 1st, 2017. If I could have found a special edition Barbie doll that looked like this when I was 12 (yes, while some girls had boyfriends, I had a thing for keeping collector’s Barbie’s in their original boxes), I would have totally spent $60 on it.

Love you J.Lo! If you’re looking for a nod to J.Lo’s classic “If You Had My Love” as it is perfectly sampled on the sexy song Teenage Dream by Drake.

Things that are nice on the eyes are okay to enjoy sometimes, right?

A. Rod looks kind of goofy and like he doesn’t really know how to deal with being there, but on a positive note he really looks proud to be there with J.Lo and since I do love J.Lo, I think any man on her arm should be proud to be with such a hard-working entertainer.

Finally, A Story That Made Me Happy: Southern Charm’s Craig Conover Finally Passed Bar Exam

I saw this People magazine story yesterday and I realized that discipline and perseverance in the face of adversity persist after all when I found out Southern Charm’s (one of my top, if not THE top reality show, show I’m watching–in my opinion) Craig Conover finally passed the bar exam.

He was publicly shamed at the end of the last season (the 3rd) when he was pushed to reveal on the reunion that he can’t write the bar exam because he failed to finish law school. His final term paper was never turned in.

The rest of the cast appeared shocked to learn that Craig had been lying to them for 3 seasons. I’m not sure how many actual years that is, but probably at least 2, since season 1.

Anyways, though Craig is a bit of a tool sometimes, he does have a certain sweetness and he seems very focused on doing the right thing, even if it’s undeniable that he often doesn’t DO THE RIGHT THING (haven’t seen that movie in a while-may be revisiting it soon).

Conover’s best moment this season (4) so far, again in my opinion since I’m the one writing this and there’s no statistical way found out yet to determine whether or not this is more than an opinion and truly accurate) is when after a polo match, his co-star and apparent friend Thomas Ravenel is sitting with some other cast members as his two children, Kenzie and Saint, (who he fathered as a 50 plus lifelong bachelor with the now 24 year-old Kathryn Dennis and who he has full custody of) are pushed on a stroller by their nanny behind them. 3 year-old Kenzie is yelling out, “Daddy! Daddy!” but he ignores her and continues talking to the people around them.

Craig takes issue with this (it felt super weird to me too…just say hi to your daughter since she is clearly happy to see you) and told Thomas in Craig’s very nasally voice to go say hi to his daughter. Thomas kind of tells Craig to fuck off and Craig walks away pissed. This moment is where Craig’s midwestern sensibility really shines through.

southern charm naomie olindo craig conover

Congrats to Craig and his girlfriend Naomie Olindo who seemed about ready to dump him if he didn’t get it together and finally do something with his life (not to say at all that this is something I’ve accomplished myself, but still aiming for it)!

Orly Bloom Acknowledges How Unimportant He Is Next To Katy Perry

I’ve never been an Orlando Bloom fan. I’ve never hated him, but I’ve also never felt drawn to him. To me, he comes off like some good-looking guy who doesn’t really have any idea what it’s like to be a normal person.

The video of Bloom trying to punch-out Bieber was the only thing I’ve seen of Orlando Bloom on fancy film or paparazzi film that I’ve found interesting.

But now…after Orlando and Katy P. are broken up, and she flirts via Twitter with aging but still very hot man Ryan Phillippe, he has finally said something that makes me think Orlando Bloom might have some perspective or awareness of himself in terms of public perception. About his break-up with Katy Perry he said this: “She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don’t think anybody cares about what I’m up to. Nor should they” (according to x17online.com).

If he continues to show this kind of depth then maybe I’d actually go see him in a movie at the theatre. It takes A LOT for me to haul my ass to the theatre, and it’s not because I’m lazy, it’s because I am anti-social and prefer to consume movies, tv, music, etc. in the privacy of my relative solitude (except for my boyfriend and 3 cats) of my own apartment. The last thing I went to the theatre to see was Moonlight. It was worth the trip.

So, yeah, maybe, just maybe, I might end up directly spending some cash on Mr. Bloom, who just turned 40 and still looks quite young and/or healthy, for his ability to entertain me.
